Unbundling Autocratic Capture

This project studies how citizens evaluate reform bundles when institutional costs are embedded inside broader packages of policy change. The central argument is that complexity and selective presentation can weaken citizens’ ability to detect harmful institutional implications, even when final consequences are held constant.
